Response surface analysis methodology(RSM) was used for optimizing the extraction process of glycyrrhizic acid and flavonoids from glycyrrhiza.Based on single-factor experiments, three independent variables, reflux solvent, time and ratio of liquid to solid were selected as affecting factors during extraction. An expevimental design of 4 factors and 5 levels was arranged according to central composite model.Response surface analysis was carried out based on the yields of glycyrrhizic acid and flavonoids as response values. The results showed that the optimal conditions for combined extraction were 68% of ethanol,1.1 % sodium hydroxide, reflux time of 2.5 h and liquid solid the ratio of was 10.1 ∶1(mL ∶g).Under the condition, the yield of glycyrrhizic acid is 5.68% and the yield of flavonoids is 6.73%.
