Extraction and Antioxidant Activity in vitro of Polyphenols from Northeast Wild Dandelion Flowers(Toraxacum mongolicum Hand.Mazz)

The optimization extraction of total polyphenols from northeast wild dandelion flowers was studied by single factor test and orthogonal test. Results showed that the optimal conditions were 40% ethanol solvent,extraction temperature 40 ℃,1 ∶15 ratio of material to ethanol,extraction time 40 min. Under the extraction conditions,the extraction rate of total polyphenols was 2.31%.Antioxidant activities in vitro of the dandelion flower polyphenols(DFP)were investigated in three different assays,including scavenging activities of hydroxyl free radicals(·OH),superoxide anion(O_2~-·)and 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical 2,2-Diphenyl~(-1)-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)hydrazyl(DPPH)free radicals. Results showed that the highest scavenging rates for the radicals were 89.35%,76.55% and 68.43%,respectively. As a conclusion,DFP had good eliminate ability of free radical,could be used as functional food material.
