Acute Toxicity Experimental Study of Barbarum Polysaccharide on Aged Mice

One day maximum tolerance test was adopted to study the acute toxicity of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide on aged mice.12 hours of fasting(except water)before the test,then acute oral toxicity test was conducted using daily maximum concentration and volume,disposable intragastric administration,observed for 7 days,behavior,food intake,weight,stool and mortality of the mice were recorded to study the safety evaluation of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide on aged mice. The coat color,food intake,weight and stool were not abnormal significantly after the aged mice were given by gavage LBP with maximum dose and volume. And the liver,spleen pathological section and blood had no obvious abnormalities either. It could conclude that there was no toxic effects of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide on aged mice.
