Tentative Measurement of the Relationship Between Campus Outdoor Space Elements and Microclimate Amenity Level in Summer

With the diversification in the form of teaching and activity in Colleges and Universities,the college outdoor space more frequently undertakes the functions of educating,living and communicating.Taking Nanjing Normal University Suiyuan campus and Nanjing University Xianlin campus as examples,microclimate amenity elements like the air temperature,relative humidity and wind velocity were measured on selected points inside the campus.The relationship between the outdoor space elements and the microclimate amenity was explored by mathematical analysis technique and then targeted improvement methods were put forward.The results showed that plants and water in outdoor space could optimize the microclimate amenity in summer,spatial form's effect on the city dominant wind direction significantly influence the wind velocity,the influence of heat radiation absorbed by the underlying surface of the space affected the surface layer temperature of the outdoor space.Hence,at the plan phase of site design,site conditions and use amenity should be comprehensively taken into consideration to optimize microclimate conditions in outdoor space and therefore enhance people's appreciation and use efficiency of it by applying natural resources and climatic advantages.
