Effects of the IGF-Ⅰ and its receptor on the mammary gland epithelial cells in dairy cows

Mammary gland development and lactation is a complicated process that strictly controlled by the body's endocrine system,and it is regulated by a variety of hormones and cytokines and other factors,thereinto,many exogenous hormones and growth factors play important regulatory role on the growth and development of mammary gland,and the starting and maintaining of lactation. While insulin like growth factor Ⅰ( IGF-Ⅰ) that can promote cell differentiation and proliferation,plays an important role in the growth and development of mammary glands in dairy cows. IGF-Ⅰ can promote cell growth and differentiation and survival,thereby maintaining the number of blactiferous cells and lactation performance. It is possible to say that IGF-Ⅰ is a factor that more directly promotes and maintains lactation. The effect of IGF-Ⅰ on the mammary gland development and lactation performance has become one of the research hotspots in recent years. Thus,this paper briefly describes the effects and the possible mechanism of the IGF-Ⅰ and its receptor on the mammary gland epithelial cells and lactation and so on.
