The effects of estrogen receptors( ERs) on the reproductive performance of animals mainly depend on the regulation of estrogen signaling on the development of ovarian follicle and ovulation. In this paper, the regulated effect of ERs ligand in body growth and development was summarized by analyzing the composition and structure of ERs and the mechanisms of ERs signal transduction via nuclear membrane and transcription system, and comparing the relationship between genetic and non genetic effects. The expression and regulation mechanism of ERs in the follicular development and ovulation was aummarized as a focal point.
