The effect of calcium salt stress on seed germination characteristics of six oat varieties

In order to reveal adaptive mechanism of different oat varieties at seed germination stage against calcium salt stress,and adaptability comparison between different oat varieties against calcium salt,for providing the theoretical basis for the introduction and promotion of oat varieties in karst mountainous areas,6 oat varieties were included in this experiment using CaCl_2 at 0,10,50,100 and 150 mmol/L as calcium salt stress model. The changes of 7 germination indexes between varieties were analyzed and were compared. The adaptability of experimental varieties against calcium salt were comprehensively evaluated using principal component analysis and subordinate function method. The results showed that an increased at first and then decreased tendency of several indexes with the increase of calcium salt stress was performed,including relative bud length( except ESK),relative root length,relative germination rate,relative germination potential,relative germination index and relative vigor index. Most indexes( except relative bud length of ESK and oat Lampton) reached the peaks at 50 mmol/L CaCl_2. Seven germination indexes were replaced by three principal components according to principal component analysis,which's accumulating contribution rate was 87. 56%. Seedling growth factor,seed germination factor and seedling healthy factor were the first,the second and the third principal components respectively. Based on comprehensive consideration of the weights of principal components,subordinate function comprehensivly evaluated the order of oat varieties with calcium salt tolerance: oat ESKoat OtaQinghai 444 oatoat GanzaoQinghai white oatoat Lampton.
