Significance of Endoscopic Retograde Cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) in Recurrent Pyogenic Cholangitis

The Railway Central Hospital of Harbin Li Bin Zhu Chengyan Cui Wenda et al.
Objective:To study the significance of ERCP in recurrent pyogenic cholangitis (RPC).Methods:Pushing the catheter into the common hepatic duct, injected the contrast medium until the clear image ofcommon hepatic duct, intrahepatic duct and gallbladder were taken in duodenoflbrescope.Results:132 ERCP examinations bad been performed.58 patients (47.5%) undergoing ERCP were diagnosed as having recurrent pyogenic cholangitis.43 patients of them (74.1%) had stones in bile duct. The patients who had stones in gallbladder and billiary strictures were 10 (17.2%) and 5 (8.6%) respectively. However, the true incidence was probably higher. Conclusions:ERPC could give a good overall plcture of the morphological abnormalities of the duct system and should be reasonably accurate in the localization of stones,it could also be used to differentiate RPC from some other diseases.ERCP should be a very important investigation in the diagnosis and treatment of RPC.
