Analysis in CT Diagnoses of 540 Cases with Lumbar Disk Herniation

Object To evaluate the value of CT diagnosis in lumbar disk herniation. Methods 540 cases of lumbar disk herniation diagnosed by the examination of CT combined with physical signs and symptoms, were compared with their corresponding confirmed diagnoses to analyses the diagnostic standards and the reasons of misdiagnoses of this disease. Results 510 cases were correctly diagnosed and the ratio of diagnosis is 94.4%. 30 cases were misdiagnosed and ratio of misdiagnosis is 5.6%. Conclusion CT could correctly diagnose of most lumbar disk herniation and might be an important method in diagnoses. But there still exists misdiagnosis which was caused by the neglect of clinical history, the physical examination, and the location of CT scan.
