Improving the Mechanical Properties and Wear Resistance of High Aluminium Zinc Alloys

Shu Zhen (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hunan Univ, Changsha, 410082)  
Approaches to improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of high aluminiumzinc alloys were studied and experimental results are presented in this paper. Heat treatment, modifica-tion, alloying and squeeze casting are discussed successively. The investigations in this respect have ledto develop a new type alloy-Zn-Al43.This alloy presents better mechanical properties and wear re-sistance than ZA27, which has been widely studied and applied both at home and abroad.
