Combination of Event Tree Analysis and Fault Tree Analysis for System Reliability Analysis

The Event Tree Analysis (ETA) and the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) are the useful methods for the system reliability analysis. They are both opposite and complementary. The combination of them is a best way to overcome one's weakness by acquiring other's strong points and to enhance the quality of system reliability analysis. In this paper a method combining the ETA with theFTA is presented.The bases, procedures and application ranges of the combination are discussed. As an example, the reliability of operating processes of model SN_(10) breakers is analysed using the presented method.
