Comparison of Several Chemometric Methods for Analysing Black Analytical Systems

A comparison of several chemometric methods for analysing two-way data of black analytical systems is presented. The overlap in systems is judged by the determinant of the covariance matrix of the spectral or chromatographic vectors. Evolving Factor Analysis, Iterative Target Transformation Factor Analysis, EvolutionaryFactor Analysis and Heuristic Evolving Latent Projection (HELP) are compared in terms of determination of the number of components as well as spectral and chromatographic resolution by using simulated data. The HELP method gives the most satisfactory results.
