Simplified Single-degree-of-freedom Model of the Floating System Cable-stayed Bridge

A typical application in seismic design of energy dissipation is the installation of longitudinal large fluidviscous dampers(FVDs)between girder and pylons. The determination of parameters of FVDs is based on theoptimal effects of longitudinal displacements of girder and seismic force of key components. Firstly The contributionof first mode to the longitudinal displacement has been analyzed,then based on generalized mass and stiffness offirst mode,a single-degree-of-freedom analytical model has been developed,The feasibility of the model is verifiedby comparing the seismic response between full-bridge model and the single-degree-of-freedom model with andwithout setting the nonlinear fluid viscous dampers(NFVDs). On this basis,based on the concept of thesupplemental damping ratio ξsd,the supplemental damping ratio provided by NFVD to longitudinal movement ofgirder is evaluated.
