Shear Performance of Ultra-thin Abrasion Layer

Shear failure of ultra-thin wearing course is one of the major diseases. We take the emulsified asphaltmodified by SBS modified emulsified asphalt and Novabinder~(TM) as the interlayer bonding material,AC-13 C,Nova Chip~?Type C,and OGFC-13 as the wearing layer,AC-20 C as the intermediate layer,manufacture the rut samples,and do thedirect shear test. The effects of different types of viscous oil,the amount of cloth and the type of abrasion layer on the shearstrength are evaluated. The experimental results show that the shear strength of the three abrasion layers corresponds tothe optimum viscosity of the layer. The modified emulsified asphalt of Novabinder~(TM) is better than that of SBS modifiedemulsified asphalt. The same sticky oil layer in the optimal spraying quantity,we find the different wear layer shearcapacity are open graded Nova Chip~?Type C,then dense gradation AC-13 C,then open graded OGFC-13.
