Influencing Factors and Failure Mechanism of Inverted Soft and Hard Interbedded Slope

The anti-dip soft and hard interbedded slopes are composed of two kinds of lithologic features with softrock and hard rock. Their deformation failure process and genesis mechanism are not yet clear. In this paper,the discreteelement software UDEC is used in the theory of discontinuous. The parameters are needed for simulation and obtainedthrough indoor and outdoor tests. A numerical analysis model is established. We study the factors which affect thetoppling deformation of the soft and hard interbedded slope and the mechanism of the formation. The analysis resultsshow that there is a high possibility of tipping deformation of slope and rock formation in the range from 60° to 70°,andthe sum of inclination of the slope and rock formation is greater than 120° which is an important condition for theoccurrence of topping deformation. The thickness of the interbedded rock mass and the nature of the rock massdetermine the type of toppling deformation. The forming process of the soft and hard interbedded slope is divided intofour stages of initial deformation stage. soft rock flexural and hard rock fracture deformation stage,pulling shear planethrough stage and damage stage.
