Spatial-temporal Evolution Characteristics of the Urban Heat Island Effect in Zhengzhou

This paper employs the MODIS surface temperature data from 2007 to 2016,analyzes the temporal andspatial changing characteristics of Zhengzhou's urban heat island effect by using 3 S technology,and eventuallycomes to the following conclusions.(1)The high-value sector of Zhengzhou's surface temperature and medium heatisland area locates in urban district and administration centre in suburban district. The underlying surface ofmountain and water body mitigate the increase of the surface temperature to a certain extent.(2)The heat islandintensity in Zhengzhou is stronger at night than in the daytime. The areas of weak and medium heat island appearsin the daytime while the areas of strong and extremely strong heat island exists only at night.(3)The strongest heatisland intensity appears in spring,the intensity in summer takes the second place,and the lowest intensity exists inautumn and winter. The heat island intensity in the daytime decreases systematically from spring to winter,and theheat island intensity at night turns to be stronger in spring and summer than in autumn and winter.(4)The urbanheat identity of Zhengzhou in the past ten years shows an increasing trend. The scope of extremely strong heatisland area is evidently extended.
