Based on the evaluation index system of urbanization and economic transformation, this paper adoptscoupling analysis, factor analysis and regression analysis method, analyzes the coupling and coordination relationshipof urbanization and economic transformation in the Yellow River basin. From three time sections and in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River basin, this paper builds the regression models to discuss the influencefactors of economic transformation. The findings are as follows:1)The coupling degree of urbanization and economictransformation in the Yellow River basin is in the antagonistic stage, and the coupling degree of the eastern cities ishigher than that of the western regions. The low coupling stage is mainly distributed in the upper and middle reachesof the Yellow River, and tends to move upstream with time;2)The overall coordinations of the Yellow River cityurbanization and economic transition system are in the low stage of coupling coordination, and the moderate coordinationcoupling regions are concentrated in the capital cities. Over time, urbanization and regional economic transformationcoordination degree increased rapidly in the lower reaches of the Yellow River cities;3)The impact of urbanizationon the economic transition of the central cities of the Yellow River basin in the three time cross sections is graduallyincreasing, and the mechanisms are different due to the regional differences in the upper, middle and lower reachesof the Yellow River. Most of the central cities of the Yellow River basin rely heavily on natural resources, which isan important factor impeding economic transformation. Based on the above analysis results, the paper puts forwardsuggestions to form a benign bidirectional feedback mechanism between urbanization and economic transformationin the Yellow River basin.
