Reduced Calculation and Its Experimental Comparison for Castellated Beams

Three castellated beams were designed and tested. Ba sed on the obtained experimental data, the mechanical behavior, sectional stress distribution and loading capacity of the tested circular-hole and hexagon-hol e castellated beams were analyzed. It is found that the loading capacity of the circular-hole castellated beam is greater than the hexagon-hole one. Moreover, the correctness of the reduced calculation is verified by the comparison betwee n the theoretical values obtained by the reduced calculation and the tested valu es. Thus, the design methods of the two castellated beams are given.
