A DCM Single-Stage High Power Factor Converter Based on Asymmetrical Half-Bridge Circuit

The operation mode and characteristics of a single-stage AC/DC PFC (Power Facto r Correction) converter with an asymmetrical half-bridge topology are analyzed in this paper. The numerical simulation is then carried out by using the SIMetri x software, followed by an experiment of a prototype converter. The simulated an d experimental results show that the proposed single-stage PFC converter works in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and is of excellent PFC and soft-switchi ng performances with very high power factor and efficiency.
