In this study, the effects of dietary supplementation with L-carnitine and betaine on growth performance and lipid metabolism of finishing pigs(Duroc Landrace Yorkshire) were determined.Different levels of L-carnitine(0,50,100mg/kg) and betaine(0,1000,1500mg/kg) were added into the diets. The results showed that L-carnitine and betaine supplementation have significant effects on average daily gain and average daily feed intake(P0.05).L-carnitine supplementation has significant effects on the content of triglyceride, total cholesterol and high density lipoprotein in serum(P0.05).Adding L-carnitine has the effects to increase the protein content and reduce the lipid content in liver(P0.05),but L-carnitine and betaine have interaction effects only on the triglyceride in serum.
