To study the effects of Yongcheng waterlogged area caused by mining coal on the morphological characteristics in Carassius auratus, the fishes were caught from the Tianmuhu in Shangqiu(TMHS),a relatively unpolluted area which was used as a control and Waterlogged area caused by mining coal in Yongcheng(WAMCY),a heavier polluted area compared to TMHS.The results showed that compared to the control area, the numbers of erythrocytes was significantly higher(P0.01) while the total numbers of leucocytes were not significant(P0.05).The lymphocytes increased significantly(P0.01),while the thrombocytes(P0.01) and monocytes(P0.05) decreased obviously in WAMCY.However, the neutrophils showed the tendency to decrease in WAMCY but the difference was not significant(P0.05) between the two sampled areas. The results suggest that the mining coal pollution at aquatic environmental level in WAMCY has caused obvious alterations of the numbers of peripheral blood cells in C.auratus.
