OBSERVATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE JAPANESE GEODETIC SATELLITE

Lin Qinchang Lin Lixian (Guangzhou Satellite ( S. C. N. U) Station, Academia Sinica )  
The geodetic satellite launched by Japan as observed from Guangzhou and Shanghai is discussed. Obital determination shows that the actual orbit of this Satellite is much lower than designed orbit, but other orbital data are normal. This paper offers an explanation. The flash model of the satellite increases its instantaneous brightness. But this kind of satellite should be smaller in diameter so as to decrease the air and radian pressure perturbations as well as error in correcting the mass-center and increase the accuracy of laser-ranging.
