Synthesis and Dyeing Performance of Thiophene Azo Disperse Dyes

Three thiophene azo disperse dyes based on 2-amino-3,5-dinitrothiophene were synthesized using N,N-2-cyanoethyl aniline,N,N-bis (2-cyanoethyl)-m-toluidine and N,N-bis (2-cyanoethyl)-m-chloroaniline as the coupling component.They were characterized by UV-Vis,IR and ~1H NMR.The dyeing performance of these dyes were meanwhile assessed on polyester fabric,acetate fabric,acrylic fabric,acetylated fir powder,benzylated fir powder,and cyanoethylated fir powder.Our results show that the maximum absorption of these thiophene azo disperse dyes is from 597 to 621 nm in DMF,and the value of the logarithm of molar extinction coefficient is in the range of 4.4 ~ 4.5.They were also found to show blue and bluish violet shades on polyester fabric,acetate fabric,acrylic fabric,acetylated fir powder,benzylated fir powder,and cyanoethylated fir powder.Furthermore,the washing fastness of these three thiophene azo disperse dyes is 4 ~ 5 and their light fastness is 6 ~ 7,suggesting that they possess outstanding dyeing properties.
