The effect on sugar content and yield of beet was studied by using 60Co γ-ray and rare earth elements(REE) to treat seeds of beet.The results indicated that 60Co γ-ray of 50Gy and seed-soaking in 750g/hm 2 of farm REE could improve the root growth of beet,raise the sugar content of beetroot by 11.9% and yield by 13.5% compared to that of CK.The differences reached the significant level.
