Studies on the Chemical Constituents of Lotus corniculatus Linn

Six compounds were obtained by silica gel chromatography,Sephadex LH-20 chromatography and reversed-phase chromatography from the methanol extract of the stems and leaves of Lotus corniculatus Linn in Yunnan. The chemical structures of these compounds were identified by modern spectroscopic analysis combined with their physico-chemical data. These compounds were identified to be kaempherol( 1),quercetin( 2),quercetin-3-O-α-L-arabinofuranose( 3),2',4',3,4-α-pentahydroxychalcone( 4),trimerhylester dehydrochebulic acid( 5),syringic acid( 6). Among them,compounds 1-5 were isolated from Lotus corniculatus Linn for the first time.
