An Amide-type Coumarin Fluorescent Probe for Cu~(2+)

4-Diethylaminosalicylaldehyde reacts with diethylmalonate to yield 3-ethoxycarbonyl-7-diethylaminocoumarin,and 3-ethoxycarbonyl-7-diethylaminocoumarin reacts with diethylenetriamine to yield the target compound L. In acetonitrile,the fluorescence intensity of the solution of compound L is increased,and the emission maximum wavelengthλemshows a slight blue shift as Cu~(2+) is added to it. Compound L exhibits some fluorescent selectivity for Cu~(2+) in the presence of other metal ions,and the complex ratio of the title compound with Cu~(2+) is 1∶ 1 in acetonitrile.
