Objective To compare the therapeutic effect between open transperitoneal ligation(OTL) and subinguinal microscopic varicocelectomy(SWV) for varicocele. Methods The clinical data of 88 patients with left varicocele were analyzed,in which 46 patients received OTL(OTL group) and 42 patients received SMV(SMV group). The semen analysis results, the reoccurrence and complications were analyzed and compared between two groups. Results The spermatic vein diameter, sperm count and sperm motility were obviously improved in two groups after operation(P0.01).The sperm motility was higher and the incidence of hydrocele was lower in SMV group than that in OTL group 6 months after treatment(P0.05).There were no significant differences in spermatic vein, sperm count and sperm motility between two groups(P0.05).Conclusion SMV can improve sperm motility and decrease complications for varicocele degree Ⅱ to Ⅲ.
