Clinical efficacy of five-element music combined with auricular point pressing in treatment of negative emotions in patients with advanced malignant tumors

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of five- element music combined with auricular point pressing in the treatment of negative emotions in patients with advanced malignant tumors. Methods: A total of 72 patients with advanced malignant tumors were randomized into treatment group and control group,with 36 patients in each group. The patients in the control group received conventional treatment and nursing,and those in the treatment group received combination therapy with five- element music and auricular point pressing in addition to the conventional treatment and nursing. The scores on self- rating anxiety scale( SAS) and self- rating depression scale( SDS),traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) syndrome scores,scores on Karnofsky Performance Scale( KPS),and quality of life( QOL) scores before and after treatment were analyzed. Results: The scores on SAS and SDS showed significant changes after treatment within each group and significant differences between the two groups after treatment( all P 0. 05); the TCM syndrome scores,scores on KPS,and QOL scores showed significant differences between the two groups after treatment( all P 0. 05). Conclusion: The combination therapy with five- element music and auricular point pressing can relieve the negative emotions such as anxiety and depression in patients with advanced malignant tumors and improve their TCM syndrome and QOL,and is worthy of clinical application.
