Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of Shengmai Injection combined with conventional Western medicine treatment in elderly patients with chronic congestive heart failure. Methods: A total of 62 elderly patients with chronic congestive heart failure were randomized into treatment group and control group, with 31 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given conventional Western medicine treatmen inhalation, and those in the treatment group were given Shengmai Injection in addition to conventional Western medicine treatment. The changes in clinical symptoms, signs, cardiac functional grading, the level of N- terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide( NT- proB NP),and hemodynamic indices after treatment were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results: The overall response rate showed a significant difference between the treatment group and the control group( 87. 10% vs 54. 84%,P 0. 05). The changes in the level of NT- proB NP and hemodynamic indices showed significant differences between the two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Shengmai Injection combined with conventional Western medicine treatment has good clinical efficacy in elderly patients with chronic congestive heart failure.
