Effect of Yifeihuaxian Granule on pulmonary interstitial fibrosis induced by paraquat poisoning: an experimental study

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of Yifeihuaxian Granule on pulmonary interstitial fibrosis induced by paraquat and the related mechanism of action. Methods: A total of 96 rats were randomized into normal group,model group,treatment group,and control group,with 24 rats in each group. Paraquat was applied to establish the rat model of pulmonary fibrosis. The treatment group was given Yifeihuaxian Granule by gavage,the control group was given hydrocortisone by gavage,and the model group and the normal group were given 0. 9% sodium chloride injection by gavage. The administration frequency was once a day. Pathomorphological changes in the rat model of pulmonary interstitial fibrosis were observed on days 7,14,and 28 of gavage,the indicators including the content of hydroxyproline and recombinant human transforming growth factor- β1( TGF- β1) in lung tissue were determined,and pulmonary cell injury and pulmonary fibrosis were analyzed and compared between each group. Results: On days 7,14,and 28 of gavage,the lung coefficient and content of hydroxyproline and TGF- β1 in the model group,the treatment group,and the control group were significantly different from those in the normal group( P 0. 01,P 0. 05),and those in the treatment group and the control group were significantly different from those in the model group( P 0. 01,P 0. 05); on days 14 and 28,the treatment group had a significantly better lung coefficient than the control group( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Yifeihuaxian Granule can effectively relieve pulmonary fibrosis,reduce the content of hydroxyproline,and inhibit the high expression of TGF- β1 in lungs,thus reducing pulmonary alveolitis in rats induced by pulmonary fibrosis and the degree of pulmonary fibrosis and blocking the pathological process of pulmonary fibrosis.
