Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Qufeng Huoxue pills in the prevention of postoperative delayed uveitis after cataract phacoemulsification and implantation of artificial lens. Methods: A total of 1457 patients who underwent cataract phacoemulsification and implantation of artificial lens were randomly divided into treatment group( 729 eyes from 729 cases) and control group( 728 eyes from 728 cases). The control group received eye drops of antibiotics, hormone, and short- acting mydriatics; the treatment group received Qufeng Huoxue pills in addition to the treatment for the control group. After four courses of treatment, the incidence and time of onset of delayed uveitis were compared between the two groups. Results: A total of 16 cases( 16 eyes,2. 195%) in the treatment group and 26 cases( 26 eyes,3. 571%)in the control group developed delayed uveitis, with a significant difference between the two groups( P 0. 05). The mean time of onset of delayed uveitis in the treatment group and control group was 25. 76 d and 26. 92 d,respectively, and there was no significant difference between the two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Qufeng Huoxue pills can substantially reduce the incidence of delayed uveitis after cataract phacoemulsification and implantation of artificial lens, and can obviously alleviate eye symptoms. Therefore,it holds promise for clinical application.
