Effect of Shenxiong Tongmai granules on expression of apoptosis indices p53 and Fas in rats with cerebral ischemia / reperfusion

Objective: To investigate the inhibitory effect of Shenxiong Tongmai granules on apoptosis in the rat model of focal cerebral ischemia- reperfusion. Methods: A total of 60 male Sprague- Dawley rats were randomly divided into blank group,sham- operation group,model I group( reperfusion was performed after 7 days of intraperitoneal injection of 0. 9% sodium chloride injection),model II group( intraperitoneal injection of 0. 9% sodium chloride injection was performed for 3 days after reperfusion),pretreatment group( reperfusion was performed after 7 days of gavage of 50% Shenxiong Tongmai granule solution),and treatment group( 50% Shenxiong Tongmai granule solution was given by gavage for 3 days after reperfusion). Immunohistochemistry was used to measure the expression of tumor suppressor gene p53 and fatty acid synthase( Fas) in each group. Results: Pretreatment and treatment with Shenxiong Tongmai granules reduced nerve injury in the rat model of focal cerebral ischemia,and compared with the model group,the pretreatment group and treatment group showed significant reductions in the expression of p53 and Fas( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Pretreatment and treatment with Shenxiong Tongmai granules can inhibit apoptosis of neural cells in Sprague- Dawley rats with focal cerebral ischemia and have a neuroprotective effect.
