Chaigui mixture in treatment of early asymptomatic hypertension: a clinical analysis of 28 cases

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of Chaigui mixture in the treatment of early asymptomatic hypertension and the traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) syndrome types of asymptomatic hypertension. Methods: A total of 58 patients who met the diagnostic criteria were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group( 28patients) was given Chaigui mixture,and the control group( 30 patients) was given TCM placebo. All the patients were followed up for 12 weeks. Results: The patients in the treatment group showed significant reductions in blood pressure and significant improvements in quality of life. Conclusion: The method for strengthening the spleen and soothing the liver is appropriate in the TCM treatment of patients with early asymptomatic hypertension,and liver depression and spleen deficiency may be the major TCM syndrome of early hypertension.
