Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with atorvastatin in treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy: a clinical analysis of 30 cases

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with atorvastatin in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy( DPN). Methods: A total of 60 patients with DPN were randomly divided into two groups. The 30 patients in the control group were given atorvastatin alone,and the 30 patients in the treatment group were given Buyang Huanwu decoction in addition to atorvastatin. The clinical effect,blood lipid,and nerve conduction velocity were compared between the two groups at 3 months after treatment. Results: The overall response rate showed a significant difference between the treatment group and the control group( 90. 0% vs63. 3%,P 0. 01). The nerve conduction velocity also showed a significant difference between the two groups( P 0. 01).The blood lipid parameters showed significant changes after treatment and significant differences between the two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with atorvastatin can significantly improve the patients' clinical symptoms and increase nerve conduction velocity and has a definite therapeutic effect.
