A Study of Lin Youchun's Family History
The famous poet Lin Youchun was a descendant of Lin's family during the Japanese rule in Taiwan. At present, there are still some shortcomings and mistakes about Lin's family history and family studies, which has brought some obvious obstacles to the related research: first, after Lin Wenming,Lin Youchun's grandfather, was killed in the court, his family had complained to Beijing three times, and the purpose of the complaint was mainly to eliminate Lin's rebellion;second,Lin Chaoxuan,Lin Youchun's father, was very close to the Japanese government in Taichung for the benefit of the family during the Japanese rule, but he was resigned from his post after being appointed as a counselor in Taichung County, and third,Lin Wenqin, the younger brother of Lin Youchun's grandfather,is the key figure in Lin's family ethos from loving war to loing literature. This transformation is the result of party's struggle between Liu Mingchuan and Liu Ao. Lin Youchun has encountered two highly controversial events in his life, namely the"Shouzhi Gongtang"and the "non-filialism". The images of Lin Youchun in these two events seem to be contradictory, but they all reflected the profound influence of family and family studies on Lin Youchun.
