On Yao and Shun's Strategies of Country Administration and Their Historical Contributions

Yao and Shun were both outstanding tribe leaders in ancient time with their basic strategies of country administration: paying attention to politics and taking care of people's lives; emphasizing rewards and punishment and administrate the country according to laws; focusing on cooperation and allocating people tasks according to their abilities. Through their efforts of policy implementation, great achievements have been made. Thus, both of them have won good reputation as sages and political models. Generally speaking, Yao and Shun have made three important historical contributions to the world: drafting calendar to help develop agricultural production, bringing the floods under control to benefit people and uniting clans to create a war-free world.
