Studies on Temperature Control and Crack Prevention of High RCC Gravity Dam of Longtan Hydropower Station

Based on the scheduled construction progress of high RCC dam in Longtan hydropower station, the 3D FEM is used to simulate and calculate the temperature field and stress field during construction and operation stages of the RCC dam, thereby revealing the changing laws of temperature fields and stress fields under different placing temperatures during summer season. Regarding the proposed long interval and overflowing in flood season of the long interval surfaces, simulation calculation is done for the stress field of the dam in order to analyze the possibilities of cracks. Furthermore, the cutting off effect of temperature is studied by imbedded cooling pipes in the ascended-layer of the concrete when grouting in summer. In addition, a comparison is made between measures of decreasing the grouting temperature of concrete and applying cooling water pipes.
