Discussion on Pre-stressed Rock Strands for the Permanent Shiplock in Three Gorges Project

More than 4,000 pre-stressed rock anchorage strands are laid on the high side slopes by the permanent shiplock of the Three Gorges project,and a study is made in the paper regarding the anchorage effect,construction quality,spacing laying,the effect of anchorage strands on the surrounding rock,and the effect of neatby blasting operation on the anchorage effect of the strands,etc.The conclusion on this basis is as follows:①Judging by the statistical characteristic values of the anchorage pretress,it is feasible to use the extra-tension construction method for the pre-stressed anchorage strands;②The observation results from the multi-point displacement indicators shows that the compressing influence range of anchorage strands is related to the extemal load and in general the influence radius of 1 000 kN strands is smaller than 1.5 m,and that of 3 000 kN strands is 1.5~2.5 m;③It is suggested that the blasting operation should be separated with the constructed strands by at least 4 m or 5 m.The study achievements are of referential value to the similar projects in the future.
