Design and Analysis of Miter Gate for the Permanent Ship Lock in Three Gorges Project

Working characteristics of miter gate is discussed and a refined assembled FEM model of miter gate is established to study its twist resistance. The effect of back tie rods on the twist resistance of the gate is analyzed on which the process of prestressing the back tie rods is put forward. Stress and strain condition of the gate is calculated in detail when it is working as well as being hoisted. The study results have been applied to the design and construction of miter gate in Three Gorges project, and the study method and its conclusion has valuable reference meaning for the design and calculation of the same kind.
