Ever since ecological water was fed to the downstream of the Tarim River, concerns have centered on how to define a rational ecological protection scope and ecological water demand for downstream ecological safety assurance system, and how to provide scientific basis through a system composed of such relative factors as river flow advance, rise of ground water level, and vegetation recovery for overall benefit assessment of downstream ecological-based emergent water conveyance project, river regulation, reasonable allocation and optimal scheduling of water resources, and ecological restoration. However, there have been just a few studies on impact-post assessment of ecological-based emergent water conveyance project at downstream the Tarim River. In view of this, this paper attempts to discuss the impact-post assessment of the said project with ecologicalbased water conveyance to the downstream of the Tarim River as the background, and aims to develop a study framework for that, offering a basis for an objective and fair assessment of the project's impacts.
