Numerical Research on Plume Infrared Radiation of Helicopter Exhaust System

Plume is one of main radiation sources of helicopter exhaust system. A numerical method of helicopter plume infrared radiation was developed, which combined radiative transfer equation(RTE) with plume flow field model and exponential wide band model(EWBM) of gas radiation. Two computation cases were used to test the method from different aspects, which confirmed that the method is feasible for computation and analysis of plume infrared radiation, and can meet the requirement of engineering design.
