Surface-enhanced Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy of the Para-mercaptobenzoic Acid on the Copper-island Film

Copper-island film, which is without protective agent but has infrared enhancement effect, was prepared on the metal aluminium surface by replacement reaction. And the morphology and characteristics were investigated by SEM, XRD and IR. The results showed that copper deposited on the aluminum emerges structure of island, Copper island films were formed by a large number of secondary Copper particles and small amounts of copper particles through a close packing way. Herein, we introduce a new finding,revealing that copper's unique structure enables a significant enhancement effect on infrared absorption spectrum of organic molecules which are adsorbed on the surface of silver particles. So the surface-enhanced infrared spectroscopy can be used for trace analysis and testing.
