Analysis on the Characteristics of Demands for Public Meteorological Services in Shenzhen Based on Public-consultation

Based on the public consultation data collected through the official website of Meteorological Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality and the meteorological observation data of Shenzhen national basic synoptic station from 2010 to 2013, the analysis on the temporal variation of consultation quantity, and the correlation between the consultation quantity and meteorological elements were performed to reveal the characteristics of temporal and elemental demand for public meteorological services. Based on the results, it shows that: 1) The flood season is the most concerned period of weather information for publics. On Wednesday and Friday, there is a maximum public meteorological information demand. During flood season, The typhoon is the focus of public concern. In autumn and winter, citizens pay more attention to the climatic tendency prediction. 2) In the aspect of meteorological factors concerned, citizens pay more attention to the fine forecast of precipitation. The relative humidity also is a focus due to the so called "Hui Nan Tian" which means a rather wet weather in spring in southern China. Sunshine hours and public consultation are closely related to precipitation, but mainly through indirect effects. People rarely consulted temperature unless encounter hot,cold weather.
