EFFECTS OF ALUMINIUM IMPURITIES IN ~(99m)Tc GENERATOR ELUATE ON RADIOPHARMACEUTICAL BEHAVIOR

The results of our experimental studyand clinical observation suggest that theradiopharmaceutical behavior is evidentlyinfluenced by ionic aluminium (Ⅲ) in~(99m)Tc generator eluate. When concentra-tion of ionic aluminium (Ⅲ)5μg/ml, theradioactivity in the peripheral tissue of thy-roid was increased during thyroid scanning,and agglutination took place when erythro-cytes were labelled with ~(99m)Tc. When con-centration of ionic aluminium(Ⅲ)20μg/ml,the liver scanning with ~(99m)Tc-SC wouldreveal uptake of radiocolloid in the lung, andthe scanning of bone with ~(99m)Tc-PYPwould reveal a concentrated iniense radio-activity in the liver, while the bone uptakeof radioactivity was relatively decreased. The authors believe that under certainclinical conditions the criteria for the con-centration of ionic aluminium(Ⅲ) of radio-active pertechnetate injection (20μg/ml)found in the pharmacopoeia is not reason-able. Therefore, it may be necessary tomake some modification in this criteria.
