Early diagnosis for atypical systemic lupus erythematosus

Objective To evaluate early diagnosis of atypical systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) by renal biopsy.Methods Eighty-eight atypical SLE patients admitted from April 2002 to October 2006 in the second clinical college of Harbin Medical University.The results of renal biopsy combined with clinical manifestations were analyzed.Results The results of renal biopsy showed that 2 patients were normal,4 were lupus nephritis(LN)class Ⅰ,19 were LN class Ⅱ,14 were LN class Ⅲ,33 were class LN Ⅳ,and 13 were LN class Ⅴ.There was 3 patients' renal biopsy findings could not be classed by WHO criteria.Conclusion There is a non-specific correlation between the clinical manifestations and renal pathological findings of atypical SLE.Renal biopsy is very important for early diagnosis of SLE.
