The p5G1/Taq Ⅰ Allelic Frequencies in Chinese

Palymorphisms identified by DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms in the gamma-crystallin gene region was investigated in 20 unrelated healthy subjects,using genomic DNA hybridization analysis with p5G1 DNA probe encoding gamma-crystallin.We obtained polymorphic sites of Taq Ⅰwithin human crystallin gene cluster and these gave rise to three sets of allelic fragments from the gamma-crystallin genes.The frequencies of the A2,B2 and C2 alleles were 0.45,0.72 and 0.60 respectively in healthy subjects and the values were higher than those of American people′s.The result suggested that there was a difference in the allelic frequencies of this locus in different races.
