PRELIMINARY STUDY OF HOLOCENE ENVIRONMENTAL EVOLUTION IN THE BALIKUN LAKE

Through many synchronous analysis of lacustrine deposit from Hole Zk 0024 in the Balikun Lake in Xinjiang, it is known that, since Holocene, the lake's water level has undergone multiple expansion and contraction periods, corresponding to multiple alternations of cold-humid and hot-dry climates in the lake area. In the meantime, several advancing and retreating processes in glacial and interglacial stages occurred in mountainous region. Water level, palaeoclimate and glacial period all went through 4 regular synperiodic varia tions, making up a unification in Holocene environmental evolution in the Balikun Lake area.
