This paper describes the types and characteristics of seismic facies and sedimentary facies of Eogene in southern Liaodong Bay on the basis of seismic stratigraphic principles and interval velocity and velocity spectrum. The authors have determined the following depositional systems, i. e. nearshore submerged fan, delta-slumping turbidite fan, shallow lake-beach/bar, and deep lake-deep water turbidite. Distribution of the depositional systems has asymmetry in plane and successional difference in vertical. Finally, favorable exploration area has been predicted.
