Influence of buildings on atmospheric electric field measurement under thunderstorm

When the thunderstorm comes,the measurement value by atmospheric electric field mill will be influenced by surrounding buildings.By using the integrated engineering software(IES)electromagnetic transient and the sounding data,the distribution of electric field value and the variation of atmospheric electric field at ground during a thunderstorm were analyzed.The influence of buildings,the bottom shape,height and matcrials on atmospheric electric field measurement was taken into consideration.The results show that the simulation of electric field is consistent with the observation value,and that the bottom area and the angle of buildings are the main influence factors,with the influence distance becoming larger when the bottom area increases.Both of the sheltered elevation and the influence distance becomes larger when the height of the building increase.The difference of the building material can't influence the distribution of atmospheric electric field.When the distance reaches a certain value,the influence of buildings on atmospheric dectric field measurement can be neglected.
