FELIX:Concept of a Volumetric 3D Computer Display
Detlef Bahr(Technical University of Braonschweig, Germany)Knut Langhans; Daniel Bezency; Martin Gerken; Dennis Aomann; Carsten Vogit (Youth Research Center, Stade, Germany)
The demonstration system is based on a rotating helical target screen that sweeps the entire display volume while a computer controlled laser beam hitting its surface creates the spatial image. As a result three - dimensional graphics are pre-sented which a group of people can walk around and examine from nearly any orientation simultaneously without the need for spacial viewing glasses to be worn. Applications include safety-critical observation tasks in traffic control, various medical uses to entertainment and education visualization and in the field of engineering.
